Today Levono has purchased Motorola Mobility from Google. Due to recent comments (see below) it is not currently clear where in Texas the Moto X, Cell / Smartphone is assembled. Always verify country of origin before you buy.

“Regarding your query about American assembled phone, I apologize that we are not allowed to provide the exact address for our service centers based on Texas. Our phone’s are assembled in US and for the parts it’s coming from our distribution site overseas.”

“Designed, engineered and assembled in the USA”, “Assembling the phone here in the U.S. opens up some cool possibilities.” that is how in 2013, Motorola described their new Smartphone. They said the phone will be assembled here in the USA by Flextronics International Ltd. at their Fort Worth Texas manufacturing facility. Flextronics is an original equipment manufacturer (OEMS) founded in May 1990, which has its headquarters in Singapore.
Note: Quote from their new product advertisement. “And this is just the beginning. By the end of the summer we expect there to be more than 2000 new employees in Ft. Worth, TX working to make all of this possible. Imagine what else you can do when you have the world’s best design, engineering and manufacturing talent located here in the USA.”
Note: The weekend sales phone support is located in the Philippines.

Seems that just yesterday I was one of the lucky few to be able to buy one of assembled in USA first generation Motorola X phones. Less than a year later the plant that these phones were assembled at was shut down once again.
This was the first and probably the last smart phone ever to be assembled in the United States of America to date. Yes the components were made overseas, but at least this gave at the time employed 2,500 Americans. Seems that most electronics are made overseas these days and as much as I personally prefer to support my fellow American workers, this doesn’t always seem possible.
Below is a link for information on the assembly line being shut down.
