George Washington’s tent picture & information:
The tent picture was found on the Smithsonian Legacies website. This type of Marquee tent is recognized to be made by “Philadelphia upholsterer Plunkett Fleeson, for visitor receptions, meetings, and dining” and was used by General Washington for sleeping and office use during the 1776 time period. Another picture of General George Washington’s tent.
From the ancient days of Jabal until our modern times, tents have been used to provide portable and temporary shelter for family, military, refugee, enterprise, and recreational purposes. Tent material and framing has changed over the years; in the beginning animal skins were used for cover material, walls, guy lines, and flooring. Bones and wood was used for structural support and anchoring.

I am looking for a USA made tent that I can purchase from a local big box store. Can you help me out? Thanks, LH
LH,
I wish our directory had more US made products listed, which could be acquired in a “big box store”. The answer to your question at this time is; no I do not know of a US made tent in any big box store.
Unfortunately these stores and some employees that work in them from the CEO on down do not realize the harmful effects of buying foreign products.
As of now; you are included in the list of people to notify if we find a particular US made product.
